Ibrahim is a shepherd whose job is to look after his herd as best as he can. One day he receives a phone call from his brother with a plan he wants to hear nothing about.

Ibrahim is a simple, kind-hearted man whose main source of income is raising sheep. He lives with his family in the Middle Eastern mountains. The last few years have been particularly wretched and illnesses have struck his flock causing many animals to perish. There seems to be no end in sight to these calamities. Andres Sööt sets out to a 800-kilometre-long pilgrimage called Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain; the road will end in Finisterre - "the end of the world" on the coast of Atlantic Ocean.

Estonian filmmaker Andres Sööt walks the legendary pilgrimage road called Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) in Northern Spain amond thousands of other pilgrims from all corners of the world. The most popular route of the pilgrimage - the French Way - runs from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on the French side of the Pyrenees to Roncesvalles on the Spanish side and then another 780km on to Santiago de Compostela. Like several other pilgrims, Sööt won't finish the 800-kilometre-long road at one stretch. Finns, Vepsians, Votes, Setos, Erzya-Mordvinians, Mansis, Hungarians, Sámi, Nganasans and Estonians appear in the film. The film was shot in 1977 on locations in northern Finland, Sámi, Vepsia, Votia, Mordovia, Khantia-Mansia, Hungary, the Taymyr Peninsula, Setomaa region in Estonia and in Saaremaa and Muhu islands, Estonia. Some footage was also filmed in Nenetsia in 1970.
