She has to resign during the elections of the new manager. Being without authority has a damaging effect on her so she starts to regain her position with the help of her old tricks.

In order to get what he wants, Pilliroog stops at nothing and fears no intrigues nor violence. Depicting the life of the nouveau riche in Tallinn during 1920s adds the socio-critical touch to the silent film.

Love, however, won't ask about people's plans, poor conditions nor general atmosphere of violence. The mutual feelings between Karl and Agnes make Erna so jealous that she will make a false complaint about Agnes to Cheka. Agnes's beauty hypnotizes both Tchekist Commissar Miroschtschenko and secret agent Hevelyn - both of them make up their minds that they must win the girl's heart.
