Documentary by Andres Sööt about the deportation that took place in June 1941 in Estonia. The film has been dedicated to all victims of this event.

Events of the past tend to fade away; however, the June deportation of 1941 has remained to the memory of Estonian people forever as one of the cruellest crimes by Soviet authorities. At the night of June 14, 1941, more than ten thousand people were deported to Siberia, most of them being women and children. The film introduces those who stayed alive in SIberia and finally returned back home. Director Andres Sööt whose family also collapsed due to the June deportation dedicates his film to all those sent to Siberia. This is an everlasting responsibility - not to forget.

What kind of attitude has been towards Estonian monuments and heritage artwork during the changing times in local history? Memorial columns can be victims of ideology. Estonia has been governed by several state authorities during the 20th century, all of them have left their own monuments. The destiny of numerous military monuments in East-Europe has become an actual issue.

Jüri Krjukov recites Severyanin's poetry in Russian. He also reads the voiceover of the film in Estonian.

There is already the touch of the liberating atmosphere of the late 1980s. The documentary is thus free from ideological dictates and nomenclatural situations. Estonian-mindedness is expressed through the selection of topic, visual language as well as the soundtrack. Among the themes there are the national identity of Estonians, fellowship, local nature and culture. The message is slightly circumspect yet emphasizing Estonian mentality and nationality throughout the film.
