Documentary miniature about the biggest and the most well-known male art collective – the Estonian National Male Choir at its 40th anniversary since founding. Men are singing behind the scene a choral work "Epilogue of the Mahtra War" by René Eespere. Episodes between and with the music: children having an excursion in the museum of history where they get to know the history of Mahtra War; René Eespere and Kuno Areng having a conversation; the excursion guide introduces the men the sculpture "Mother Earth" in Russian; choir rehearsal and cutting the anniversary cake.

Celebrating composer Mart Saar 100th birth anniversary in 1982.

Filmmakers have documented the events related to Estonian composer Mart Saar's 100th birth anniversary in 1982. Completing the portrait bust of Mart Saar, festive opening, Viljandi song festival, opening of the expositions in Mart Saar House Museum in Hüpassaare, jubilee ceremony in the concert hall of Estonian National Opera Theatre. Speeches by Johannes Jürisson, Gustav Ernesaks, Veljo Tormis and Jaan Rääts. Based on the Immanuel Pau's radio drama, Merle Talvik, Maria Klenskaja and Lembit Ulfsak recite excerpts from Mart Saar's correspondence.

The musical feature film directed by Peeter Urbla presents Estonian pop songs of 1970s and 1980s, performed by Magnetic Band and Gunnar Graps, Muusik Seif and Tõnis Mägi, Ruja and Urmas Alender, Rock Hotel and Ivo Linna, Kontor and Heino Seljamaa, Doktor Friedrich and Joel Steinfeldt, Kuldne Trio and Anne Veski, Vladimir Sapožnin, and disco group Eurütmia supervised by Tiina Elts. The leading actress is singer Els Himma.

While suffering creative and emotional crisis, singer Katrin gives a poor performance at the pop music contest. She decides to turn over a new leaf and write a song that would convey an important message both for herself and for the audience. Katrin's personal drama - the story about her doubts and self-realization - is accompanied by the performances of well-known pop musicians of 1970s and 1980s.

Estonian Film Database (EFDB)

The database is maintained by NGO Estonian Film Database. It was opened on 12.12.2012 and is meant for providing information about the whole Estonian film heritage from 1912. We plan fully complete it by 2025 but already now full and partial entries for about 20 000 films, 27 000 filmmakers, and more than 200 production companies could be retrieved in Estonian and partly in English. Translation of film descriptions and keywords into English is ongoing but due to the scarcity of resources quite a slow process. Read more detailed overview.
