Lonesome and clumsy Anselm works as a dedicated assistant to a famous magician Ernesto in Boruslawski Circus. Anselm secretly practises tricks as his deepest wish is to become a great magician himself. Finally the big moment arises for him when Ernesto bewitches himself and disappears. For a moment, Anselm becomes a great favourite of the audience, but his miraculous ability to conjure up butterflies from himself becomes fatal both for himself and for the circus.
