He is welcomed by exalted compatriots and young sportsmen who consider Lurich with his athletic dedication and attitudes their idol. At the same time, Lurich is chased both by the machinations of the sports world and the dirty intrigues of local authorities. When Lurich decides to back away, both his career and life will be in danger.

Filmmakers observe poetess Debora Vaarandi (1916–2007) in Pirita beach, on Toomemägi hill and in a cafe in Tartu, having a conversation with writers, behind her writing desk, knitting, talking to fishermen and visiting her birthplace in Saaremaa island. Voiceover by actress Kersti Kreismann who reads Vaarandi's poetry.
