Don´t Kill the School, Please! (2000)

It's the first schoolday of the 21st century in Metsküla Primary School in Matsalu, Lihula parish. There are 22 pupils in six different grades and 3 teachers in the school. The school functions well, both teachers and pupils are happy with it. However, the school is facing the prospect to be shut down soon. Metsküla Primary School is more or less a typical example of today's basic school education together with its ups and downs. In the swirl of 1970s fast economic growth the school was back then shut down - now the 130-year-old school has been brought back to life again. Today's cutback policy requires that the school should be shut down. If the school dies, the village will also die. The documentary has been made as an episode of the documentary series "One Day" by TV channel Kanal 2.
