After the Coup of June, the unanimous group of graduates of a small-town high school in Estonia fall into two groups opposed to each other. Due to political views, two young people in love - Elmar and Virve - will be separated. Elmar comes from a poor family and joins the Communists; Virve from the family of intellectuals wants to keep faith to her native land. However, they will experience that emotions and ideas are two separate things. Tough times require tough decisions.
