Portrait documentary about Ljubov Hermann, the beauty queen Miss Saaremaa 1931, who celebrated her 80th birthday in 1988. Her recollections about the twists and turns of her long life intertwine with the destiny of Estonian nation and archival materials about the pivotal events in Estonian history. Ljuba shares her memories and the film chronicles tell about the following events: Soviet military bases in Estonia in 1939; Soviet occupation in 1940; mass murder in Kuressaare before the arrival of Germans in 1941; Kirov Prison during the war; Livadia Palace after the war in Crimea. Ljuba's vitality, optimism and slightly ironical attitude towards life and herself have helped her to survive.
