Documentary commissioned by the Ministry of Culture of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic where the main topics are Estonian and Russian literature, literary translation, cultural relations. The film introduces more closely the life and professional work of Russian poet Igor Severyanin while living in Estonia. Literary historian Sergei Issakov, translator David Samoilov, poet and actor Juhan Viiding, semiotician and literary historian Juri Lotman share their thoughts about Estonian and Russian literature. Jüri Krjukov recites Severyanin's poetry in Russian. He also reads the voiceover of the film in Estonian.
