Plot summary
Tim the boy ladybird visits girl ladybird Mia on Christmas Day. Mia's little house hangs from a fir tree in the forest. A man unexpectedly comes into the forest, cuts down the tree and takes it home as a Christmas tree. The ladybirds also end up in the man's home along with the Christmas tree. Tim and Mia encounter other domestic bugs as they search for a way back to the forest. Robert the beetle dreams of building a rocket and flying with it to the ceiling lamp that resembles the moon. Unfortunately, Robert’s attempts at flight always fail. Salvadore the fly longs to be modern and contemporary. He goes suntanning under the table lamp, and learns new modern dances. Leo the ant is a passionate fisherman who spends all of his free time in the refrigerator fishing out berries through the ice from the bowl of compote. The indoor bugs do not know anything about the forest. The best they can come up with for Tim and Mia is to show the ladybirds the way to the top of the wardrobe. There lies an old postcard under a layer of dust, depicting a forest.
And then Santa Claus arrives with his sack of presents. An elf bug with a little sack of presents climbs out of Santa Claus's pocket to distribute presents to the domestic bugs. Only when all the domestic bugs have received their presents and the sack of gifts is empty, does the elf bug notice the ladybirds standing sadly. The elf invites the ladybirds to come with him and takes them straight to Santa Claus. The ladybirds climb onto Santa Claus's mitten, Santa Claus raises his hand, and a Christmas fairy tale comes true - Tim and Mia are back in the forest!
