17th Song Celebration took place in Tallinn on June 27-29, 1969. Two weeks before the big event a song festival was held in Tartu, with the purpose to pay honor to the first song celebration that was held there a hundred years ago. Since there were only male participants in the first festival, there were also only male and boys' choirs and brass bands in Tartu's festival in 1969.
