Sünopsis

This Estonian feature film is among the few films produced before 1940 that have been almost fully preserved and tells about the legendary adventures of the noble robber Jüri Rumm in 1880s, Estonia. The story begins with the manor house servant Jüri who gets physically punished. As a proud and independent young man, he won't forgive this to the noblemen. Jüri's loved one Madli is also in danger; in order to rescue her, Jüri has to flee himself. He is witty and venturesome so he cannot be caught. The story of young lovers interweaves with reckless tricks played on the noblemen. The local Robin Hood pays back for the unjust towards the common people. This silent film also presents the most successful fight scene in Estonian earler film history.
