Poet Kalju Lepik, expatriate Estonian living in Sweden, is awarded Juhan Liiv poetry award for his poetry series "Old melodies" published in 1989 in Estonia. When coming to receive his award in Juhan Liiv's birth place Alatskivi, Lepik visits his home country for the first time after having been away for about fifty years. The poet goes to see the places of his childhood in Koeru as well as visits his mother after a long period of separation. In the background the author reads his own poetry.
