The documentary about Kohtla-Järve oil shale processing industry, with the emphasis on human wisdom and power of the machines, tells about oil shale production, transport and processing in the factory's departments in Estonian SSR in 1960s. The film introduces the study of technologies of producing oil from oil shale and designing new production buildings. The voiceover makes a point of the fact that "Man created and built the factory, man governs the factory!"
