Viljandi celebrates its 700th anniversary in the autumn of 1983. The newsreel shows the big event and the camera follows a legendary local resident in Viljandi called the Zither-Ott who talks to the town people, plays the zither, visits the antique book store and an outdoor theatrical play by Ugala Theatre in the castle hills, Viljandi.
