Enn Põldroos has portrayed numerous intellectuals and public figures while concentrating on depiction of their individuality and expressiveness. Enn Põldroos has been called the painter of men and human relationships. The artist himself has admitted that painting portraits has always been his secret love. At his exhibition "31 gentlemen" (1998) the artist presented portraits he had painted in 1958-1997. The portraits are commented by the artist, art historians and several people who were portrayed.
