Three short portrait stories about the workers of various generations in Eduard Vilde collective farm. In the first story, an old man contemplates on his farmer's life during the times of the first Republic of Estonia and he talks about his work in a granary before and now.

Teises novellis räägib laudas karjabrigadirina ametis olev naine oma tööst ja selle muredest. Kolmanda novelli peategelaseks on noor traktorist ja mehaanik Heino, kes teab, et ilma õppimata põldu harida ei saa. Kokku on sulatatud kõnelejate kaadritagune loomulik kõnepruuk ja poeetiline pildikeel.
