Captain Volkonogov Escaped (2021)

The events of this parable take place in a city that resembles Leningrad (USSR) in 1938. This is a tense period of political persecutions and mass fear. The Captain of the Department of Internal Affairs Fyodor Volkonogov (32) specializes in obtaining self-incrimination from persons under investigation using special methods of force. But the moment comes for the repressive system to turn the eye on its own soldiers. Volkonogov’s direct supervisor commits suicide. Fyodor foresees his own arrest and flees, thus becoming “the enemy” hunted by the colleagues. Lucky to get regular clothes Captain is looking for the shelter in town. At night, hungry and scared, Fyodor suddenly receives a message from the afterlife – he is destined for Hell and eternal torments, but he still has a chance to change it and go to Heaven. The only condition for him is to repent and to get forgiveness at least one person. Fyodor steals the file with the coordinates of his former victims and sets on a mission to find their relatives and ask for forgiveness. The Captain visits the chain of scared and internally traumatized people who had renounced the loved ones. This route becomes the pre-death repentance for the executor, the attempt to redeem his sins. But does he have a chance to be forgiven?
