The events of this parable take place in a city that resembles Leningrad (USSR) in 1938. This is a tense period of political persecutions and mass fear. The Captain of the Department of Internal Affairs Fyodor Volkonogov (32) specializes in obtaining self-incrimination from persons under investigation using special methods of force. But the moment comes for the repressive system to turn the eye on its own soldiers. Volkonogov’s direct supervisor commits suicide.
