The Sleeping Beast (2022)

A gang of five children – two boys and three girls – spends their summer in an abandoned factory complex. The gang leader, Kristjan (10), would really rather hang out with his older brother’s friends but still enjoys the games and tests of courage with his peers. One day, factory owner Teet bans them from going to the complex for safety reasons. Kristjan, Ariel, Laura, Mia-Margot and Siim decide to ignore the ban and return to the complex secretly. One day Elmar catches the wandering Lisandra, Loore's 3-year-old sister, and locks her in his guard booth for her own safety. Kristjan provokes Elmar to chase him while the other children free little Lisandra from the guard booth. During the pursuit, Elmar falls into a deep hole on the factory grounds.
As time passes, Kristjan’s conscience starts to torment him because it becomes clear that the other kids have no plans of helping Elmar out of the hole. He tries to change the other kids’ minds and secretly help Elmar, but his plans fail and he ends up the object of the other children’s scorn and aggression. Finally, Kristjan no longer has anything to lose and decides to reveal everything. Kristjan manages to save Elmar’s life but his world has been changed forever. There is no going back to his former, carefree childhood. Kristjan has grown up this summer.
