Raoul Kirsima’s film „Mommy“ is based on Leo Vissak’s script about child abuse and the wish to escape from reality. There is a strong emphasis on sound design and elements of animation.
A young boy (kristan Kirsima) home alone in a messy apartment draws pictures of a big scary monster chasing a stick figure. The drawings show the figure escaping the monster to end up behind the pearly gates of heaven where a reunion with its mother is due. The boy drawing the picture is then interrupted by a loud knock on the door and a drunk sounding father demanding the door to be unlocked. With a deep sigh the boy leaves his drawings behind to find peace and reunion with his mother by a freefall from the window.
