Mockingbird is a film about a broken mother-daughter relationship.
Scout (Kerly Ritval) was born deaf and mute. Her mother Marili (Marily Kobin) gives her away as a baby when she is born due to an unwanted pregnancy. Marili is in her teen age at that time. Scout is raised away from her biological mother in a Catholic orphanage. Marili craves to see her child all her life and lives in that guilt through her adult life. She always observes Scout from a distance but never has the courage to reach out to her till Scout reaches her teen age. Marili decides to confront her fears and sends her a letter asking Scout to visit her.
