Matz: Estonian Waterbird (2019)

Students film Duration 10:28

Plot summary

Short documentary about the life of a paraswimmer.

The young and fresh Estonian Para swimming star Matz Topkin shines not only with his speed but also with his smile, lighting up the room wherever he goes. He can joke about breaking his prosthetic leg, getting help with tying his pants and opponent’s mood after championships. The rare disability with being born with only one full-length limb doesn`t stop Matz from living life light-heartedly. Matz filled the norms for Rio Paralympic Games but did not get to compete. Now he is determined to go to Tokyo in 2020 and hopes for good places in finals. He continues to improve his results, appreciating every victory, let it be European or Estonian Championships. Not all people are born the same, but each one defines their abilities.
