Hugo Mitt arrived at Australia from Germany at the end of 1948. FIrst, English language courses took place at the refugee camp in Bonegilla. Then he had to pass the mandatory employment for two years in Woomera where ditches were digged for the future military base colony. After the mandatory job, Hugo mitt went to his parents' place in Adelaide and started studying electronics at the university. There were financially hard times. After obtaining the degree in engineering, Mitt was employed by an aviation board. Mitt's area of responsibility included the navigation equipment of aerodromes. He contributed to several innovations in the field, facilitated the work of aviation operators and moved up the ladder becoming a chief engineer. For two years, he assisted the development of state aviation in Ghana, Africa; yet, the indifference and frequent thefts by local people blocked the work. Hugo Mitt shows his collection of beer cans. He has practised this hobby for the last 12 years and has collected cans from 68 different countries. Beer can collectors in Australia have their own club with one thousand active members and they meet on regular basis as well as issue a special publication - so the hobby is being taken seriously and offers lots of positive emotions.
