Estonian Independence Day (1989)

In 1989, the 71st anniversary of the Republic of Estonia was held with festive ceremony in the hall of Toronto University in Canada. This anniversary event has been recorded in video by Edgar Väär, it consist of different cuts. In this part prayer is said by the archbshop of the EELC Udo Petersoo and candles are lit in commemoration of the casualties. Greetings are passed by the Vice-President of the Latvian National Committe in Canada Alberts Upeslācis, the President of the Lithuanian community in Canada Vytautas Bireta who reads out greeting of the Lithuanian independence movement Sąjūdis and at the end of the cut, the Honorary Consul for Lithuania in Canada Haris Lapas is performing.
