Ivo Linna and Alo Mattiisen (1) (1989)

The film depicts festive celebration of the 71st anniversary of the Republic of Estonia in the hall of Toronto University in 1989. The event has been recorded by Edgar Väär, video consists of different pieces. In this section speech is given by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia in Canada Ilmar Heinsoo. Mixed choir in national costumes, conducted by Roman Toi, is singing the song "A Song of the Nordic Land" composed by Ülo Vinter. Ivo Linna performs the song “Time of Awakening" composed by Rene Eespere, accompanied by Alo Mattiisen on a synthesizer. Documentary frames about the song festival procession, blocks of flats and cars with red banners of awakening era are shown, Ivo Linna performs Alo Mattiisen's song "Most beautiful songs" in the background.
