Liquor Rally (2015)

Original title (in Finnish): "Raskas"

Students film Duration 10:32

Plot summary

Booze Cruise/Raskas is a short documentary film about childhood shadowed by alcohol. Would the life of a 60 years old woman be better now, if her dad had not rampaged the kitchen, being drunk and holding a knive 45 years ago? What kind of ghosts did a dad, who was fleeing from his own childhood, leave as a heritage for his daughter?
Booze cruise goes deep in to the situation, which is easy to relate for many. Almost everyone of us know someone for whom alcohol is a way to espace and ease the stress. At the same time booze cruise is also a story of the biggest liquor store at the Baltic Sea. When watching tens of millions of liters of alcohol being sold one can not help to wonder, if these two stories share a common level, a causal connection.
The documentary is a honest and bare story about what it feels like when the shame is ghosting around the corners even after tens of decades.
