Traces of Empire: Radioactive Pollution

One of the legacies of the Soviet era is radioactive pollution - an important example of the colonial policies of USSR to illustrate reluctance to act in an environmentally friendly way. Among the biggest producers of radioactive pollution in Estonia were Sillamäe Uranium Enriching Factory; the burial place of radioactive waste in Saku; underground ignition complex of nuclear rockets near Valga; and the training centre of submarines in Paldiski.

Kõigi nõukogude tuumaobjektide puhul on probleemiks täpsemate plaanide puudumine, info hankimine Venemaalt on seotud aga tohutute raskustega.
