In Between (2014)

What does a human being really need? Over the few years more than three million Syrians have fled across the border to escape the bloody civil war. Kristi is an Estonian Muslim with Arab roots. She is a humanitarian worker at one of the biggest refugee camps in Jordan with a task to map the conditions of the camp’s teachers. People there have lost their homes, loved ones and are living in tents, but despite all that they seem surprisingly positive. On the other hand, healing the world is not an easy task and challenges Kristi’s own emotions and surviving skills. In these conditions the fragility of life is vividly perceptible and puts a focus on things that really matter. Meanwhile, life in Estonia proceeds at its own pace. There, the human condition poses quite a different challenge. Somewhere in between there is peace.
