August Rei was a long-term deputy of the head of state of the Republic of Estonia in exile. His funeral is held in Gustaf Vasa Church, Stockholm. The funeral service is held by bishop Johannes Oskar Lauri and church minister Konrad Veem. The remains of the deceased is cremated in the Woodland Cemetery, Stockholm. Among the grievers there are Tõnis Kint, Heinrich Mark, Arvo Horm, Elmar Kandre, Birger Nerman, Enno Penno, Bernhard Mäelo, Therese Rei, Hilja Rei and others.
