Drops (2013)

Media student Anna Kanska's written and directed bachelor thesis is a short fiction film about young people and their subconcious inner voices.

Dace and Artūrs is a couple, they move in together, they are followed by vizualized inner voices of them, which are not seen by them. Dace brings Artūrs a gifs – a telescopue, that he could kill his time with while renovating the apartment and looking for a job. Dace is a violin student and she gets offered to participate in audition for a budget place in London Royal Academy of Music, she denies the idea, yet goes to try it out. She doesn't tell her boyfriend about it. Artūrs uses telescope to entertain himself while smoking on a balcony, he notices a man living in a house visible through the lens, who seems to have everything in life. Artūrs starts copying his idol. As the life rhythm for Artūrs and Dace doesn't seem to match, they start to argue about small, unimportant things, still hiding what really matters to them. Ceiling starts to leak, which makes a topic for their raising arguments. Artūrs doesn't see how anxious Dace is getting and he doesn't know about her dilemma with studies abroad, Dace doesn't see Artūrs work with the apartment and looking for a job, all she sees him doing is hanging around the house all day. They get into an argument and, before they are able to meet each other again, Dace gets the confirmation call, while Artūrs is at a successful job interview. Each of them makes a decision that other is not aware of.
