Love remains, love returns (2012)

Vahur Linnuste (born in 1925, in Tallinn, Estonia), son of a military man, studied economy related issues already as a schoolboy. The documentary introduces his childhood memories when he was living in the borderstate between two different cultural spaces - Europe and Russia - and the collapse of the Republic of Estonia in the summer of 1940 when the small independent country of Estonia was united with the empire of Soviet Union. World War II breaks European cultural space into two zones - the capitalist West and the Soviet East. The film opens up a unique and not well-known story about the Estonian expatriates in Europe fighting for the restoration of independence of the Republic of Estonia. Vahur LInnuste who has mainly resided in Paris analyzes the political backgrounds both in Europe and the whole world, trying to find answers to the question why the fate of Estonians turned out to be that tragic during the WW2 and the postwar period.
