Playing Pirates (2011)

Original title in Estonian: Mereröövlimäng

Students film | Road movie Duration 33:30

Plot summary

Film student Tõnn Sikk's short film is about children and their friendship, but maybe he even talks more about the friendship of children's parents.

Seven-year old Sten-Erik moves with parents from an apartment to a house which is located in another part of the town and once belonged to his grand-father. In another part of the house lives a girl, Maria, with her mother, who is painter. Although children are from totally different worlds their friendship grows to be big and strong very fast. They play around the house and find and interesting attick with an old chest with treasures in it, a puppy and much more. Unfortunately kid’s parents are not as friendly to each-other as the children are. Sten-Erik’s parents won’t let Maria to their apartment - maybe she steals something and their only wish is to have the whole house just to their family but to achieve that Maria and her mother have to move.
Children are very sad about the upcoming moving but they have nothing to do against it. One fine day, while playing pirates, they have brilliant idea - they should become pirates and run away together.
When they get on the river with a ship - self-made out from the treasure chest - they are faced with a dangerous event which fortunately finds a happy ending.
