A View from the Mountain (2007)

One of the main characters of The Power of the Hill is the village of Salla, population 150, with its own school, ploughed fields and well-maintained homes. This place reflects the culture of the rural folk of Estonia and their everyday activities. The other main character is tourism businessman and village activist Hando Kuntro. In this film, the viewer sees the story lines of the two main characters proceeding in parallel. On the one hand, life in the village of Salla: how new people have come to live in this little village, how Shrovetide or Christmas are celebrated, and how children go to school on the first of September. On the other hand, this documentary film tells viewers the story of the adaptation of a middle-aged city slicker to country life.
