A touching documentary by Liivo Niglas about a disappearing nation and language. Only three hundred years ago the Itelmen nation inhabitated the river valleys on Kamchatka Peninsula. Due to epidemics and colonial politices the number of Itelmens was drastically decreased; native language was spoken only in a few villages. Today, about 1400 people consider themselves as Itelmens. The main sources of subsistence for Itelmens is fishing and hunting fur-bearing animals. Until 20th century sables were hunted with a net.
