Since 1912 about 530 fiction films have been done in Estonia. The number of full lenght movies is about 300. In addition, about 90 fiction films have been produced for television, and more than 725 short fiction films have been done by film students.

The romantic adventure film directed by Olav Neuland is a love story between a young thinker and the beautiful daughter of a vassal in medieval Estonia, when the last free villages were turned into feudal estates.
Meleleiv and Liisa are two young Estonians with pure souls who meet each other during the battles with feudal order. Herman Pesentack and Hans Metten, the vassals driven by greed and power hunger, use both violence and tricks in order to get what they want. Those who are mentally stronger will come out as winners. The freedom of Estonians can exist only within the borders set by the feudal order. The man who has given the vassal's oath of homage to his lord must be also ready to rise against his nation.

Musical comedy directed by Arvo Kruusement is based on the play "In Sevilla or Don Juan" by Samuil Aljoschin. The classical story has been given a colourful interpretation through the pop music of 1960s and 1970s, fashion, and the architecture of the old town of Tallinn. The film includes lots of singing, dancing and fashion show. Its medieval milieu is mixed with the everyday items of the 20th century.
One day, an elegant young swordsman arrives at the good old Tallinn where its inhabitants extravagantly boast with fashionable outfit and pop culture of 1960s and 1970s. Soon the rumours spread among female citizens that the swordsman is the famous ladykiller Don Juan. The virtues of the local women are put to the test and the local young men have to take up arms in order to prove themselves. Yet, the Don Juan arriving at Tallinn is not the one whom people consider him to be.

It is a fast-paced comedy full of humor and consolation, telling the story about people who despite all obstacles strive for their goal.
