Celebration of the 75th Independence Day of Latvia in Toronto 2/3

Expatriate Latvians in Canada are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Latvia with the special event in Toronto. Also, restoration of independence in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia is being celebrated with the event. The gathering is opened by a Lutheran church minister, speeches in Latvian and Lithuanian are followed (simultaneous sound). The audience is sitting behind the tables; after the toasts follows clinking of champagne glasses. The speeches also address the theme of the fight for independence in the Baltic states. It is emphasized that Canada has never acknowledged annexing of the Baltic states by the Soviet Union. ...
