Life Before Life (2016)

In a beautiful flowery meadow, the miracle of life is taking place. A new life is born. The newborn butterfly Bruno flies into the wide world to look for something better, not realizing that he was born at the best place ever. Soon he finds himself at a big bush. The leaves of the bush give off a substance narcotic for insects. The busy life going on in the bush impresses Bruno. This is what he’s been looking for. But life and death walk hand in hand here, and just before landing on a leaf, Bruno is eaten up. Only the wings remain. Bruno is not the only one to lose his life. One by one, pieces of insects fall from the leaves. Before touching the ground, they disappear in a mist which takes them to another world. This is the world of insect remains, which rather follows the habits of humans. The problems, joys and concerns are comprehensible to us.
Bruno’s wing also arrives in the new world. It stops in an apartment where a company is hanging out in front of the TV. In a moment, Bruno’s wing develops hands, legs, and the head. He blends in with the company.
Finding one’s position is difficult. In the course of action, we can see the local everyday life.
Bruno’s adventures in the other world end up with a lecture about life and life after life that he attends accidentally. The authoritarian scientist cannot stand any differences of opinion. Bruno’s unexpected question “Aren’t you wrong, isn’t it life before life that you’re trying to prove?” becomes fatal. The scientist gets so angry that he falls onto the floor, lifeless.
The angry audience kills Bruno as well.
Both, the scientist and Bruno, enter the next world where they fly as butterflies from flower to flower. We can recognize the meadow from the beginning. After landing, by chance, on the same flower, they recognize each other. During a brief conversation, they realize that in a way both of them were right. But the conversation comes to an end suddenly. A dragonfly passing by grabs the professor and eats him right away. Only the wings of the scientist fall down floating in the air.
Everything goes on.
