Bronze as a material became prevalent in Estonian sculpture during the years 1970s-1980s. Numerous public sculptures and individual artworks were completed in bronze. During these restricted decades, the sculptors' work confidently followed the footsteps of Modernism. The majority of the artworks that were exhibited in "The Bronze Age" in Tallinn Art Hall in 2001 have been stored in various buildings of the Art Museum of Estonia and Tartu Art Museum; younger generation of Estonian artists know these works only as reproductions.
