In late 1950s, writer Juhan Smuul undertook a journey to Antarctic with the Soviet expedition team and dedicated his novel "Book of Ice" to these heroes of the so-called "white land". The film crew met the participants of the expeditions with whom they recalled both the journey to Antarctic and their travel companion Juhan Smuul. The recollections are accompanied by the excerpts from "Book of Ice". Film chronicles and photographs of that era have been used in the documentary, as well as the material filmed by Mati Kask and Andres Sööt during the expedition.
